Possible Mormon Church Demolition: The property at 2301 2nd St. has been mostly vacant for years. This demolition permit was posted last week and we reached out to the contact on the sign and here is what we got back: “The building is vacant, and we want to prevent it from becoming a target for vandalism or vagrancy, so we are pursuing demolition. The property may be sold or redeveloped in the future, but there are no immediate plans for the site. When we have a plan for the property, we’ll engage with the community.” We will continue to update the community/when we learn more.

Santa Monica moves toward deal to park Zoox robotaxis at Main Library: The agreement would let Zoox, the Amazon-owned autonomous vehicle company, stage and store up to 150 of its robotaxis in city-owned parking facilities, including the Main Library parking structure. The city expects the deal to generate about $500,000 or more a year in new recurring revenue. More details here.
Downtown Santa Monica Looks Forward: Debbie Lee’s Vision for the District’s Next Chapter: With major events on the horizon and new data showing gains in spending and visitation, Downtown Santa Monica is shifting its focus from recovery to reinvestment, experience and long-term growth. For years, much of the conversation surrounding Downtown Santa Monica has centered on what it lost from vacant storefronts, public safety concerns, changing shopping habits - the pandemic-era decline of one of Southern California’s most recognizable retail districts. DTSM's CEO Debbie Lee wants to change the conversation, focusing not just on bringing the district back, but on defining its next chapter, and using data, programming and a more proactive approach to operations to get there. “We really needed to shift into a proactive model,” Lee said. Pasjoli Listed by The Infatuation as One of "The Best French Restaurants In LA": "Pasjoli used to be a fancy restaurant with tableside pressed duck and a multi-course tasting menu. But it’s more laidback these days, with a menu that leans in the direction of decadent bar food, like deboned cordon bleu chicken wings stuffed with prosciutto and molten cheese, a gooey burger with marrow aioli, and a french onion soup capped with gruyère that explodes when your spoon pokes in. The prices aren’t too daunting for a random Tuesday night dinner, but Pasjoli is still the kind of spot where you might overhear a business deal or spot a celebrity couple on a discreet date. Oh, and the pressed duck remains—for $350." 2732 Main St. More details here.
